Hemel Hempstead Place Story

News | 08 July

On the 8th of July, we at Think Hemel launched the Hemel Hempstead Place Story.

The event, held at the Old Town Hall Theatre in Hemel Hempstead, was a celebration of our town’s heritage and its bright future. Businesses, charities, residents, investors, employers, councillors, and civic organisations, took part in our launch of this new initiative.

Following an introduction from the Chair of the Place Board Andrew Percival and the Chief Executive of Dacorum Borough Council Claire Hamilton, several local partners took to the stage. Our guest speakers included the general manager of the Marlowes shopping centre Humphrey Mwanza, Chairman of Hertfordshire Innovation Quarter (HIQ) Richard Whitehead, Chair of Hemel Garden Communities Bob Lane, and Chief Executive of Coventry City Council Martin Reeves. We would like to thank all speakers for their time and contributions to the event. A special thank you to Martin for travelling down from Coventry. His speech demonstrated what is possible, especially as Coventry has recently experienced significant change, following a concerted effort from the council and its partners.

The Hemel Hempstead Story is a statement of intent. We are planting our flag, displaying our pride in our town – the people, the environment, and the businesses. Together, we are laying the foundations for our ambitious future.
